Today was a very long day. We had a very long flight and we were all definitely feeling the jet lag. However after arriving in berlin and leaving our bags at the hostel, we were able to walk around. We visited a biergarten and it was very pretty. It is similar to central park in New York City. After this free time we were able to take a very long walking tour. Although it was long we were able to see west and east berlin. It was interesting to see where the actual Berlin wall stood to separate east and west berlin. The architecture of the buildings in the city was beautiful. The arhitecture of the older buildings definitely stood out from the more modern buildings. The tour was a very good way to see the historical significance of the city. We also went to dinner as a group after we rested from the tour. The dinner we had was amazing. We went to a Turkish restaurant. Most of the food that was served I have never eaten before. The meats were tender and juicy and everything tasted very fresh. Although it was not authentic german food it was still very good . Hopefully in the upcoming days in Germany we will get exposed to core of the authentic cuisine. Overall my first impressions of Germany have been great and I cant wait to see what else is in store for us!
