London Cultural Differences

By: Sydney Baker

We are finally back, and I'm all caught up on sleep. I loved the experience we had in London. I just wanted to point out a few of the major differences I noticed between our cultures because they were fascinating to me:
Instead of elevators, they call them lifts. Restrooms are toilets. Yield signs in Britain say Make Way. Chips are french fries and our kind of chips are crisps. Cookies are biscuits, which was disappointing to me because I love biscuits. So everytime someone mentioned biscuits, I was sad to realize they meant cookies. Public restrooms cost money to use, which was traumatic at one point because I was unaware and I didn't have change on me. Everything is expensive in Britain, but I loved being there for the short time I was able. Everyone walks and life is very fast-paced there, which wore me out quickly. And if you are on the wrong side of the escalator, you will get run over. Those are just a few of the differences I noticed. I took a picture of the nutritional information on the back of some crisps because they list different information. I thought that it was interesting that they added energy to the list.
And anyone in the group wanted this pic here it is!
