...And we're here!

Hallo!
It's been awhile since I've last posted due to lack of internet service. As of today we've been abroad for four days, so let's do a little back tracking to touch on some of the awesome times we've been having...

Tuesday-Wednesday, June 3-4:

We first met up at the airport to fly out, and after a 9 1/2 hour flight from Dallas, Texas to Frankfurt, Germany, our Tuesday turned right into a Wednesday due to the time change.

Our morning arrival allowed for us to get right down to business after we stamped our passports, claimed our luggage and met with our Frankfurt tour guide.

The business consisted of several tram swaps, bus rides, and a slightly lengthy walk to drop our luggage at The Haus der Jugend hostel. We were all EXTREMELY tired, yet extremely anxious, knowing that we had to keep going and save rest for another time!

Our first stop was the Frankfurt am Main Cathedral! It was outstanding and took than one visit to take in all of it's breathtaking interior.

By this time it was lunch, so we stopped by Markt Stubb, a popular framers market in Frankfurt, to pick up some fun and fresh foods! The market consisted of everything from beautifully bright fruits, many meats and cheeses to even candies and soaps.

The rest of the day consisted of a general tour around the city to help us to get familiar with the different surroundings, and the evening ended with an awesome dinner at a German restaurant called Lorsbacker-Thal, courtesy of our tour guide, Soren.

Thursday, June 5:
I personally had an extremely hard time sleeping our first morning in Frankfurt, however, I had the special opportunity to watch the 4:30 sunrise (Yes, it's a lot earlier than I'm used to). We headed out at 9 a.m. to kick off the day, starting out by walking across the Eiserner Steg "love" bridge, in which many lock their everlasting love to the railing. We then headed to the square to look at the Frankfurt City Hall and more of Frankfurt's treasures.

We (perhaps, a tad fearfully) went up several stories (656 feet) to The Main Tower to get an exclusive view of Frankfurt from high above.

Next, we headed to Deutschabank to partake in a tour and presentation about the building and it's economically beneficial renovation.

Friday, June 6:
We all woke up early to pack up and head towards Strasbourg, France. We took a quick pit stop to take a tour at the John Deere factory in Mannheim, Germany. We were given the opportunity to see the labor and mechanics behind one of the nation's biggest companies.

We then continued heading towards Strasbourg, where our newly comfortable German understandings would need to be replaced with French filled fun. We arrived at the phenomenal French Chateau with just enough time to be greeted by the the hotel manager and quickly head of to dinner.

A welcome dinner was arranged for us by our partnering Strasbourg professor in which we encountered our first 5 course French meal. Talk about being full!

                                                       Saturday, June 7:
Today we had a delightful French breakfast at the Chateau.
We were given the morning to explore, therefore, we all headed to a Strasbourg shopping center and a grocery store to save some money and do a little cooking in the Chateau kitchen.
When meeting up with our professor we had a walking tour of the city with our new Strasbourg tour guide.

We first saw the Notre Dame, we learned a lot of Strasbourg history, and we were even given many facts about the many cheeses, wines, and breads within the area.

A boat tour followed with a cruise of the city that shared even more information on the areas of Petite France and the architectural structure and reasonings.

It was a wonderful day and I know I am looking more than forward to the many more to come!
That's it from Angelo State University for now. Until next time, au revoir!

**Will be adding in more pictures for these activities soon.
