First Class Session

By: Fiona Heilman

Today was the first time all 22 students were together for our first class session. We wrote our names on our name tags and were told to write someone we would like to have dinner with. This person could be anyone, dead or alive. We went around the room getting to know each other and our dream dinner dates. While some of us chose family members, other chose famous actors and athletes such as Tim Tebow and Audrey Hepburn.

Dr. Barber put together folders for each of us, which included everything from luggage tags to our detailed itinerary. She also arranged for three students who did this program last year to come give advice and tips for our upcoming trip. They definitely gave us helpful pointers. One of the most important was how to NOT rack up a $1000 cell phone bill.

Needless to say, it was a very exciting and informative first class session. Our next three this week will be student presentations and guest speakers.

4 more days!
